Post Tensioning Ironworker
Certification Program Adopts New Code of Conduct
At the latest meeting of the Certification Scheme
Committee (the committee that provides the program
oversight), the committee voted unanimously to adopt
a new code of conduct that all certified personnel
must adhere to. The new code of conduct, drafted by
ECS and accepted by the committee, outlines the high
level of standards and work ethics that certified
personnel are expected to adopt.
"The adoption of this new standard illustrates the
commitment that the program and the oversight
committee has towards improving quality and
maintaining a safe work environment in the
post-tensioning industry," stated Jim Rogers,
Managing Director of the certification committee.
The new document is titled Requirements for
Certified Personnel, and can be viewed and
downloaded from the program's web site at
www.ironworkercertification.com, under the
downloads page.
All new applicants will be required to acknowledge
the new code of conduct and must agree to abide with
the requirements it contains. Existing certification
holders will also be notified of the new
requirements and encouraged to abide by them until
their certification must be renewed, at which time
acceptance of the new code will also be a renewal
requirement .

Local 416 Demonstrate Post-Tensioning at World of
Concrete
ECS,
working with members of Ironworker's Local 416
presented a demonstration on residential
post-tension slab construction at the World of
Concrete in Las Vegas, Nevada. With a slab formed
using a new aluminum forming system by Western
Forms, the Ironworkers installed 1/2" unbonded
single strand tendons for a crowd of 1000's on day
1, and showed the proper method of stressing the
tendons on day 2. Both the onsite safety manager and
the Emcee for the demonstration commented on the
professionalism and skills exhibited by the
Ironworkers.
