Program
ManagementThis
certification program is owned and operated by
Evaluation and Certification Services, LLC. ECS
manages and administers all aspects of the testing,
evaluation of applications, and issuance of
certification credentials. ECS is an independent
third party certifier and is not owned or managed by
any company, organization, or other entity that
might participate in the certification program.
To insure industry compatibility
and accurate program content, ECS has established
several advisory boards consisting of industry
volunteers. This includes the Certification Scheme
Committee who helps to establish program guidelines
and act as an appeals body for applicants, and the
Technical Review Committee who reviews individual
exam questions for accuracy and relevancy. As an
independent third party, ECS maintains control of
the program and grants certification only to those
individuals who meet the written program
requirements.

Public
Information
Each year ECS performs a highly
detailed psychometric analysis on the exam results
and responses in order to insure that our
certification meets the testing industry's accepted
guidelines for being fair, reliable, and valid (as
required in ISO 17024). The analysis of 2007's
results showed that the certification exam shows a
Test Reliability Factor (Kuder-Richardson Formula

Disclaimer and Limitations
The terms “certification” and
“certified” as used in the context of this program
are defined as meaning that ECS has verified
(through reasonable effort) that an individual has
completed the program requirements identified herein
and has demonstrated their retention of applicable
knowledge by achieving a minimum required score on a
final exam. ECS is not an enforcement agency and
does not perform ongoing evaluations of a person’s
job site performance or fitness. ECS is not
certifying that an individual is capable of
performing any specific task(s) in the field.
Proficiency in working with
post-tensioning systems is best obtained through a
combination of formal classroom training and
on-the-job field experience. Each individual will
learn and display proficiencies at their own unique
rate. Individuals, including the certified
Ironworker, should not rely solely on the Post
Tensioning Ironworker Certification™ as evidence or
proof that they are capable of performing a specific
operation in the field. Ironworkers, employers, and
other project personnel should exercise their own
diligence in determining fitness to perform specific
tasks on the job.
An Ironworker who has obtained Post
Tensioning Ironworker Certification™ should evaluate
their own skill level and should perform only those
tasks that they feel they are capable of performing
in a safe and successful manner.
