Introduction
This site contains information on the
post-tensioning industry's latest and most extensive
program for the certification of installers of
post-tensioning systems. This certification program
includes endorsements in both single strand unbonded (monostrand) post-tensioning and in bonded
(mutlistrand and bar) post-tensioning. Individuals
certified under this program must meet the extensive
prerequisite training requirements described in the
Certification Program Manual, and outlined in this
web site.

Core
Competencies
Individuals certified under this program will have
demonstrated their knowledge (through successful
completion of the certification exam) in the
following areas: basic principal and theory,
handling and storage of materials, plan reading,
installation, stressing, and finishing of
post-tensioning systems. Applicants for bonded
post-tensioning are also tested on their knowledge
of grouting of post-tensioning systems. Individuals
certified under this program meet model code
requirements for individuals who install, stress,
and/or grout post-tensioned reinforcing systems.
Certification in
Single Strand Unbonded Post-Tensioning (monostrand)
Designed to meet the requirements specified in ACI
423.6 which calls for post-tension installers to be
certified by an independent third party entity
Requires extensive formal classroom training in both
rebar reinforcing and single strand unbonded
post-tension reinforcing
Includes two levels of certification:
Designation as Level 1 certified indicates that all
prerequisite training requirements have
been met and the individual has passed a final
certification exam
Designation as Level 2 certified indicates the
completion of required field experience hours
in addition to meeting the Level 1 requirements
Certification in
Bonded Post-Tensioning (multistrand and bar)
Designed to meet the requirements of state and
federal departments of transportation as well as the
requirements of Canadian Provincial Governments for
building construction
Requires extensive formal classroom training in both
rebar reinforcing and bonded (both multistrand and
bar) post-tension reinforcing
Includes two levels of certification:
Designation as Level 1 certified indicates that all
prerequisite training requirements have
been met and the individual has passed a final
certification exam
Designation as Level 2 certified indicates the
completion of required field experience hours
in addition to meeting the Level 1 requirements
